Simple Q, what happens if your ski falls off when on a lift?
Mind u, as Im new to skiing, I'll prob spend a week on me bum and wont even be able to get to the lifts!
It is very unlikely that you will lose a ski whilst on the lifts unless but if you do then you will have to go back down on the lift if it is a chair type or walk back down the slope if it is a button lift or for beginners let your instructor know and he may be able to recover it.
It is more likely that you will drop a ski pole, like I did last year - cost me 15 levs as a type of fine, but I bet someone has the job of collecting up all 'dropped' pieces of kit.
Ive dropeed poles and goggles and what not, that was in austria on a 2mile tbar and Ive seen people drop them from chair lifts, just remeber where they are nad go cross country after them
When looking down from the lifts you always see lots of sunglasses, goggles, sticks, hats and gloves but can't remember seeing skis!!! As DS says they will be secured to your bindings!!!
How high do the lifts go?? - might sound obvious but it really depends where you are on the mountain - some 4 and 8 manners go quite high and steep against the mountains whereas the tow lifts mean you are firmly touching the mountain with your skis! Only thing to worry about there is staying upright after ...

I have recently returned from a weeks skiing in Italy (Sestriere) and there was a couple chair lifts that would seriously worry anyone who suffers from vertigo!! Safe has houses though.
To answer the question, your skis should NEVER fall off whilst travelling on the chairlifts as your ski boot should always be securely clipped into the binding as if you were skiing.
