Snow baldes are a lot of fun - easier to turn , etc but no snowploughs!! Like a cross between ice skating and skiing (great for moving on the flat). All that said I must say I prefer skis.

re: snowblades or skis

I had skied for about 3/4 years. This year i changed to skiboards and can't believe i didnt do it earlier. Couple of points:
1) learning is easier on skis.
2) once you can ski, you will be able to skiboard easily.
3) So much more freedom.
4) Slight loss of stability ( this all depends on the size width of skiboards being used. They range from about 60cm to about 120cm. Obviously with the longer ones feeling more and more like skis.
5) Give it a couple of days, don't just give up after ...

7) Do it, Do it, Do it!! Very Happy

re: snowblades or skis

Caroline had been on a couple of ski holidays but wanted to buy blades on the last day and try them. You can hire for 15 lev for a day minimum at rila 1 ski depot or you can put your 15 lev towards a pair and i guarantee you great fun. We found a reduced pair for 110 levs and Caroline took to it like a duck to water. She has now done about 4 runs on them and is loving it

I thought they were brilliant. All the fun of skis + more and + more advantages. I have bought 2 pairs. A pair of Line skiboards secondhand for £70 with bag and fixed bindings. Great boards, best boards i got for off piste and jumps. I have also got a pair of spruce edge flyers. These are absolutely amazing, i have these with releasable bindings. Recommended just because you have that little doubt in back of your mind with fixed bindings and the injurys are not nice. I would recommend ...

re: snowblades or skis

What are the most common injuries with ski-blades? I'm really keen to try them next time, but I seem to be very accident prone (3 times skiing - one serious wrist fracture + bone-graft operations; one no injury; this time total rupture of medial ligament in knee!). Next time I go I'll have to have a knee brace, but I'm not sure which bit is most vulnerable on blades?
