I was, until the onset of the dreaded credit crunch, buying an apt in Pamporovo. My mortgage offer was withdrawn by the Bulgarian bank, and I was very fortunate in that the english agents were able to re-sell the apt and I have got all of my deposit back. My step son manages a hotel in Courcheval, so I have the offer of free accommodation to get my ski fix, but despite having been ripped off by taxi drivers; having my written mortgage offer withdrawn by a Bulgarian bank; an uncertain snow record; and spending a night at Sofia airport due to fog, I would still rather pay to go to Pamps than have free accommodation in Courcheval! Is there something wrong with me? What is this strange hold that Bulgaria seems to be able to exert over a normally rational man?
I think where you should be commended is that you didnt jump head first into the Bansko property owning sect.
Too many people got their fingers burned just for the privillage of bragging in the pub that they have an apartment in Bansko.
Married for 20 years, but my wife does not do holidays. I work from home, so it's a relief to spend some time out of each other's way. The time apart is probably the only reason we are still married and both still vaguely sane! I can take no credit for not having bought the apartment. If the mortgage had not been with drawn, I would no doubt have completed by now. I would probably still buy if I had the cash to spare, but only if there was the same sort of price adjustment in the prices ...

There are some people holding out on prices, but most places, especially in the resorts, are heading south at a great rate of knots. Hold onto your cash until this time next year and pick up a bargain from someone getting their goolies squeezed
Says alot about pamporovo, i have skied France and italy i loved Sauze Doux 20 years ago but there is somthing about Pamps, this year will be our third trip i cant put my finger on it, if i could stick it a can and sell it i would.
I agree. Pamps has this strange draw.
Skied Courcheval, Les Des Alps, Sauze and Norway. All great places, with fantastic snow records & ski areas, but Pamps, with it's bell sellers, inconsistent snow record, small ski area & no gondola still wins every year. 5 consecutive years and 2 trips next Jan.
Must be mad
