batteries keep their charger longer inthe cold but they discharge quicker and most cameras/camcorders will use more power when cold - not sure why but I've used digatl cams/mobiles and always see the same results - take the digital cam but don't forget the charger/spare adaptor!

I kept a disposable hand-warmer (they're not to hot but warm enough for the batteries) in the same pocket as the camera last year (temp on the slopes -20+)
