use of goggles??

Hi, Ive never been skiing and Ive been readung reports. Thomson say that some ski resorts can knock u back if you havent got goggles. Whats the rule in Bulgaria - can you get away with sunglasses as my girlfriend says goggles pull on your eyes and give you headaches

re: use of goggles??

Yes of course you can wear sunglasses there are no such silly rules here. I often dont bother with glasses or goggles if it is a nice day.

re: use of goggles??

My advice is this.

Nice sunny days - sunglasses.
Snow or rain - goggles.
No sun no snow no rain - nothing.

re: use of goggles??

it may not look much like snow at the mo but believe me when it does you will want goggles.... you can hardly see a thing without them - double lense ones though every time, no point wasting money on single lense, they are useless.

Agreeing with Pete,

but with one thing to add, make sure your glasses are strong at blocking the U.V rays as the white "that which we shall not mention" can almost amplify the sun.

Some recomendations, although I doubt you need to take it this seriously:

99-100% UV absorption
Polycarbonate or CR-39 lens (lighter, more comfortable than glass)
5-10% visible light transmittance
Large lenses that fit close to the face
Wraparound or side-shielded to prevent incidental light exposure

re: use of goggles??

those are perfect Pete you will see anything through the heaps of snow "THAT IS GOING TO FALL IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS" in those......
In fact maybe we should all start wearing our snow goggles now maybe god will remember to switch the snow on then once he sees us all suited and booted for work wearing snow goggles....
