Been across the pond to Lake Tahoe - slopes were amazing, proper stunning. Expensive apres ski (it was 2001) and no nightlife other than bloody Casinos.

I found it a soulless town, no feel or character of a ski resort whatsoever, I won't be going back.

Whistler though - yes please Razz

You stuck up ****!!!

Not everyone can afford to "go across the pond" its no good assuming everyone can.

Anyway I feel privilidged there is somewhere ace like Bulgaria close to this country which makes Skiing affordable to eveyone.

We love Borovits!!! Razz Booze

As most of you will know I have been to Bansko quite a few times as well as Pamporovo where I learnt to ski all those years ago. I too have been fortunate enough to have travelled to many of the larger European and further afield destinations to enjoy my passion for skiing. In fact, I will be flying off to Japan again this coming winter to enjoy their "bottomless power" which they are famed for. However, I would be kidding myself if I didn't admit that Bulgaria (Bansko in particular) had ...
However, I would be kidding myself if I didn't admit that Bulgaria (Bansko in particular) had something that all the other resorts I have visited didn't have - no pretence!!!

Whenever I ski in Basnsko I genuinely feel as though I can ski and go about my business and holiday without having to worry about trying to "look cool" with the rest of the numpties.

Yes, Bulgaria may not ber fames for the best skiing or snow record for that matter, but whenever the snowfall has been good, I have honestly enjoyed the skiing as much as any of the many larger and well known resorts that I have been to. In fact, I have enjoyed it that much more because of the lack of pretence which can really get on my nerves!

Bansko will always be a special place for me. Razz

snarfacas, i remember you eagerly posting on this website before your first trip to boro, also before my first trip! you commented on your return exactly how appalling you found the resort. I felt id been to a different resort as we loved it and have been back each year since. Ive also skied switzerland, three valleys and canada - the skiing is better but in borovets the holiday is better. Why are you back on the forum? Perhaps tempted to try again!
