hi, my friendds and I have booked to go to Pamporovo in Jan and im getting worried by the lack of snow - am i just being soft or is their a good chance that it wont snow. please help
dont worry about the lack of snow. It is still early. Also there was heavy snow a couple of weeks ago, and although this may have melted at the resort level, there is still plenty left at higher levels. Also there is really heavy snow (50cm) predicted for this weekend, if one can believe the forecasters.
You are going at a good time, conditions should be fine. Enjoy yourself and dont worry
we went to borovets last year on boxing day.
there was not much snow, but we had some whilst we were there. The piste was appalling. Most was unprepared and the runs that were closed/open were not marked. We even skied in rain as it was colder in London than Borovets.
Even if there is a massive dump of snow now, the 2 piste crunchers will not be able to prepare any piste (if they work, neither moved whilst we were there, except to pick up casualties).
I have been skiing for many years ...

I have been skiing for many years and last year I saw more injured people because the piste conditions were so poor, with rocks, tree stumps etc sticking through the snow,
On various parts of the runs you had to take of your skis to walk over mud/gravel/rocks.
The queue for the 'nursery slopes were a joke. when you got to the top of the one opposite the rila, you had about 50 yards of skiing to get toth end of the queue, why didnt people just ski to the bottom and fight it out like good europeans? answer beecause only the brits are stupid enough to go to bulgaria.
The food in the rila was good, needed a few mins in the microwave (provided) to heat it up, not a problem, the prostitutes in the lobby were a problem, it didnt matter if i was with my wife and/or 7 year old son I still got propositioned.
If you want to go to borovets go late season, if you want a family resort avoid it like the plague.
The ski school was a joke, luckily we dont need it, but our son does (he is better than us so needs a capable instructor to take him on challenging runs), one day the instructor failed to turn up, so the families split into different groups trusting the ski school left their kids, who were then left to fend for themselves as the instructor failed to show.
In all Bulgaria was cheap and it showed.
NEVER book early season here check out the snoew history!
oh what a whinge
me and my children love it
the prossys are a laugh and are interesting to talk and chat to
lol you are welcome to your thoughts and opinions
the snow as everywhere will come when it does and there is always
I was also there last year over chrismas. The conditions are not the norm. As always you cannot predict these things. However, I was talking to an instructor in the Gondola and he said that it was the worst conditions for 25 years. So early season can be bit dodgy for great snow conditions but you would be unlucky to get it as bad as last year.
With regards to the prostitutes. Yes they are in the bigger hotel bars but they are not a problem. They dont pester you if you dont show them any ...

With all due respect bails, Matt asked if there would be snow in Pamps - a dumb question granted - but not whether Borovets was any good or not.
Personally I think your judgement of Boro leaves a great deal to be desired and to brand all Brits as stupid for going to Bulgaria is your crass opinion not one that should be shared on this forum.
As far as I could tell the girls only bothered those who looked the sort!
