re: Annual Dig At Snowboarders

i heard the phrase "sticks of shame" not too long ago.

why would anyone think skiers dress better than snowboarders? surely people don't dress that badly in their everyday life, so why do the rules get chucked out as soon as you're on a mountain? its ridiculous. everyone knows, if you're a big fat sow, you don't put yourself in a "figure hugging" (and i'm trying to be nice here) one piece.

why would anyone think skiers dress better than snowboarders? surely people don't dress that badly in their everyday life, so why do the rules get chucked out as soon as you're on a mountain? its ridiculous. everyone knows, if you're a big fat sow, you don't put yourself in a "figure hugging" (and i'm trying to be nice here) one piece.

there seems to be a feeling that its snowboarders who are solely responsible for knocking skiers over. i've dealt with no end of skiers ploughing right into me and scraping the veneer off my board.

now, this is gonna sound bad but i want you all to think about it; i have never personally had any trouble with skiers around the same age as me (2Cool, the only trouble i get is from skiers of a certain age.

people of this age can quite often be dismissive and downright rude about people younger than them, purely because of the age difference (this whole thing of automatically respecting elders - regardless of whether they're arseholes or not is just ridiculous). PLEASE NOTE: i never said ALL old people are like that.

from their perspective, a young snowboarder is doing something that they can remember dismissing as being a "new fad" and let's face it, we can all think of someone older than us who won't, for example, eat indian/chinese food/garlic/pasta simply on the grounds that it's new and different. so why would these people look upon snowboarding in a positive way?

so, some time ago, a certain bunch of narrow-minded skiers, stuck in their ways, had a go at snowboarders for doing something they didn't like the look of. the snowboarders had a go back and now we're all giving each other shit, tit for tat style.

so now i'm having a go at the old. fantastic!!

I think the old skiing farts are having a go us snowboarders because they are jelouse of the fact that we are still flexible enough to reach our bindings to undo them. Very Happy
