After reading some of the recent comments on Bulgaria, I feel really cheated.
I have been skiing in Pamporovo 13 times, almost every time for 2 weeks, so I have spent the best part of 6 months skiing in Bulgaria.
I am gutted that nobody has treated me badly, or tried to rip me off, or served me food that I couldn't eat.
Why have the prostitutes never tried to bothered me

Instead I have had to suffer glorious snow, really nice food, fantastic people, queue-free lifts, and smiling faces wherever I look.
How dare the Bulgarian people treat me like this, I'm gonna go to France where people know how to enjoy themselves, and all for just 3 times the cost of Bulgaria.
you know what ,if what you say is true I'm really envious and obviously we had a really unusual bad experience I'm not trying to be clever or sarcastic but I still think it's sleazy and everyone to their own
Just trying to add some humour to what has been a day of negatives.
Of course we respect and welcome your comments stevie, I just think that people who have been to more chic resorts expect to much from a country like Bulgaria who are not long out of communist rule.
In a world where you can buy pornagraphic mags at your local UK sweetshop, where kids are being sold drugs at junior schools, and where basic moral standards in the UK are at an all time low, is a such a major problem to ...

In a world where you can buy pornagraphic mags at your local UK sweetshop, where kids are being sold drugs at junior schools, and where basic moral standards in the UK are at an all time low, is a such a major problem to you and your family that a girl in Bulgaria happened to give you the 'come on'?????? Of course that would NEVER happen in the UK, or France, or the USA or any other country in the world would it ????????
I skied Killington USA this year, and I missed Bulgaria so much that I 've already booked 3 weeks for next season.
13 years ago, Bulgaria was so basic that shops couldn't even change a 10 lev note, and food often ran out in hotels when only half had eaten. We never complained because that's the way it was.
I loved it then, and I love it now, which is why I've been on here just about every night for the past 6 years, and running the board for the last 4.
I've been to Borovets once since then (didn't like the queue for the Gondola in the morning, but apart from that was just what I wanted) and have been to Pamps a further three times.
I've introduced three new people to the resort in this time, all of which have been pleased to go back again.
However we do save up to go to Canada every few years.
Yes the conditions are a lot better, but then ...
Thought I'd add my thoughts to this.
I first skied in Bulgaria (Pamporovo) in 1995.

Yes the conditions are a lot better, but then it's a hell of a lot dearer.
I love my trips to Pamps, the familiarity of the place, the laugh you can have with instructors. Eating in restaurants on the slopes with your ski group is one of the highlights for me. I'm no longer having lessons, so normally gate crash my brothers group to do just that.
We're off to Canada for New Year next year, but also fully intend to get a week in at Pamps in February.

We are flying out to Pamps on Sunday for the first time. We were in Banff, Canada over Christmas for our first skiing trip and absolutely loved it, so we thought we would book another week closer to home in Bulgaria. I was a little concerned that because we have only ever been to Canada before, that Pamps wouldn't live up to it, but then like you said it is a completely different place, half the price and now the snow falling I can't wait.

Where abouts in Canada are you going for New Year. We will try and go over Chistmas again, probably back to Banff.
