2 Questions

Hi All,

Read a recent post concerning buying a sim card for your phone when you get there. can anybody please tell me how i go about this? Where to get it etc and will it work for a T mobile pay monthly contract? i'm going to Bansko with my mum and sister on the 12th Feb. Also dont laugh but does everyone wear crazee hats on the slopes or will i be the only one in the Ken Dodd 'Mr Diddyman Union Jack Hat'?? Thankyouplease.

re: 2 Questions

Hi,
Regarding sim card you need a mobile phone that has been unlocked as your t mobile contract phone will not accept the sim,the best sim to buy that we have been told about is the MTEL network you can buy the MTEL SIM CARD PACKat most mobile phone shops in BG they are usually about £20.00.
Dont worry about the hat we will be in pamporovo the same time as you and weve all got silly hats.
All the best
Tony

Hey Tony,
Thanks for the info, so does that mean i have to take an unlocked phone? will it be easy to find a mobile shop in Bansko? Will Jodie be evicted tonight from the Big Brother house? I never realised that going ski ing would be so confusing??

re: 2 Questions

Fee,

I have used an M-tel sim card with my unlocked phone without any problems and it really works out very cheap. You have to arrange the unlocking in advance as it might take a few days.

M-tel have a web-site (it's the obvious one with bg at the end...) and I checked they have a store in Bansko. The address is on the website, but Bansko is small so anybody should be able to tell you where it is once you get there. I used the service Prima, which is their pre-pay service with a sim ...

I used the service Prima, which is their pre-pay service with a sim card and top-up scratch it type vouchers that you can buy in different amounts. The only catch that I am aware of with these sim cards is that if they are not used for 11 months they expire and can't be re-activated and you loose whatever money you had left.

Hope this helps,
Dani

re: 2 Questions

Fee,

From memory, I bought my sim card in summer for 15 leva (that's less than £5) and a voucher for something like 30 leva (less than £10). I think there may have been 5 leva worth of calls included on the card as well. The charges depend on time of time of day, but at most they were 0.50 leva per minute, SMS's were something like 0.2 leva each. All in all, very cheap!

Regards,
Dani

re: 2 Questions

Fee,

To be honest, I'm also undecided about what appropriate footwear would be for the evening. I have been to Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo (a few years ago!) and I would say they are all very different in terms of terrain. For Bansko I'd say you can go for something dressier because it's a town with normal streets (more or less). Unlike Borovets where you can't survive in heels!

I myself am going to Pamporovo in February and for now am not planning on taking heels, just Dr Martens ...
