Well done for raising this again.I think it is up to everyone who goes to Bansko to raise it with the appropriate authorities if they have eveyones best interests at heart.People will not return if they have queue too long!
Permissions have been granted, route decided, land purchased and go ahead pending.......
The only problem is economics
Consider a company who is contemplating investing the best part of 13 million euro in the installation of a new gondola with an uplift similar to the existing (7500 per hour) to cope with what basically comes down to three busy periods a season ?? Falling numbers of tourists also exasperate this.. Now it is likely that if the planned expansion of the resort goes ahead ...

Now it is likely that if the planned expansion of the resort goes ahead (Akademika) then the new gondola may well coincide with this, but don't hold your breath..
I personally hope it happens, and i suppose in time it will, i just hope im young enough to enjoy it
Just like the potential airport at Bansko that some people were talking about so much until last year, it is unlikely to happen any time soon, me thinks...
aren't there just 3 busy periods at any ski resort? I think Bansko - after the original hype a couple of years ago now needs someone to really start marketing the place.
For the previous 3 years i have always been skeptical about sending family and friends to our apartment, but this year (returned a couple of weeks ago) i wouldn't have doubts any more. I suppose a lot of this is because some of the planned developments have stalled, but it has given chance for some of the part finsihed ones to at least look finished from the outside.
The Womens World Cup, and mens World cup (is that 2011?) proves that someone is doing some kind of marketing, but to get the tourist numbers back up this has really got to be driven forward now. Not sure who's job that lies with though!!!
Better organisation could prevent this. The road up the mountain could/should be utilised by free buses etc.
Came back from Morzine in January and feee buses run all the time up the mountains into Avoriaz etc not just always relying on the Gondola.
Marketing to get more tourists there mean more chance of a second Gondola, means less queues, and the world cup events giving credability to the whole resort etc etc
