Does anybody know what the price is for a sleeve of cigarettes at Sofia airport? (If memory serves me correctly, we can't get them cheap at the airport coming out of the UK)
And secondly, we have found some great flights to come out for Christmas and are hoping to book our hotel while we are out. Can you book directly with the hotels or do we need to go through a tour operator? We are hoping to use the Malina Villas for a family stay for 10 nights over Christmas.

Right, better get packing, will be propping up Bobby's bar in 48 hours
Each brand of cigarettes have a fixed price in Bulgaria. 200 cigarettes here depending on brand cost around 40 to 50 lev. For example 200 marlboro lights are I believe 50 lev, thats £21 or thereabouts. This price will not vary in Bulgaria whether it be fuel station, duty free or supermarket. I should see no problem in booking directly with the hotels but will check. Hope to meet you in Bobbys bar over the next week or so

I was in Sofia airport in november just gone. The price of the lambert and butler sleeves were euros 25.
I used a debit card to pay for them but they charged the cigs in leva, when back in uk i realised the exchange rate they used at the airport was not great so ended up paying a bit more. remember to ask for euro price, normally my bank gives a decent rate but at the airport they issued a rate in leva against the euro and i did not realise this until i got home.

Which airline have you used for next christmas flights? just out of interest thinking of giong too.
Yes you can book directly with Malina Villas. This is their website, malina-villas-borovets-hotels.boulgaria.net
I have not made a spelling mistake!!!! It is spelt boulgaria!!!!
Am i right in saying that if i did buy in the airport i would be better off asking to pay in euros. I only had a small bag with me so did not wish to buy cigs in Samokov and carry through security at sofia.
I am guessing you want to buy cigarettes to take back to UK. Depending on flight time from Sofia, duty free is not open 24 hours, I would suggest pay in cash. Thats my best advice. Although I guess any bank will adjust their rates to suit themselves. All I know is that the lev is set at a fixed rate to the euro and cigarette prices will not vary in BG if you pay in lev. Hope this helps
Ok Franc i see what your saying, i have in the past paid cash. will do again next month. Out of curiosity, would you know if the road up to borovets from samokov ,the other side of borovets, (eagle rock way) is ok to drive through in middle of feb. Thought i might show the kids a different way of getting to Borovets when we come in Feb
