A question for those of you with property in BG

Hi all.

Had a handful of bookings in my Pamps Villa this year though my own sources. The site management company are looking to charge me 3 - 6 levs per night as a Resort Tax, on top of the extortionate service charges they sting me for.

Any of you other accommodation providers heard of this??

Ta very much like.

Nope. Got an apt in Grand Monastery and maintenance charges are the same as last year. We have a 5% clause in our contract, so they cannot increase more than thatin one year. (450 Euro is what we pay p.a.)

That's interesting chaps, they are saying that for every booking, even those I provide they have to charge me on behalf of the Smolyan tax authority. Is it just us at the Nook then??

Stevie D, we also have a % clause on the contract but they are saying this is not related to their service but is tax

Hmmm......... Mad

I believe it is quite possible that there is such a tax on "tourists" in hotels, and I guess that as you are renting out to tourists then they should pay.

Of course, if this is valid, this should have been made very clear when negotiating your management contract so you can pass the "tax" on to the tourists.

If it's not in your contract, then don't pay it!!!!

Taxmen don't write the contracts.

I'm still not convinced this is from the taxman, unless other owners are paying this.

If you have an aftersales service with your agent, ask them.
