ADVICE ON WHAT TO TAKE

Some advice for the lesser experienced Bulgarian travellers on what you may wish to pack.
Soft toilet rolls. Most hotels in Bulgaria use a very coarse brand
Lippy. The sun can be very strong, and lip salve is a must.
2 pin plug adaptor. Standard European round 2 pin.
Sweeteners. For coffee.
Coffee. Can be quite strong in Bulgaria. We take ours and the dining room staff look after it for us.
New batteries. These are quite expensive in Bulgaria.
Marmite/Bovril Not available in ...

..... and some ear plugs if you are staying at The Rila in Borovets and get put right at the front. My karaoke may not be brilliant but it sure as hell is loud!!Greg

If you are staying in the Pamporova and will be using the pool, you need to take flip flops as the pool area is VERY slippy.Also Pete. Some sugestions on tips may not go amis. The usual restraunt tips, but what about the ski instructors, room maids, etc. Its been a bit hit and miss over the last couple of years, probably into the swing of it now, but it may be useful info for newcomers.

thanks for the info on the pamporovo - dont like the sound of the toilet roll situation reminds me of school and the toilet roll that was like tracing paper!!!!!!!

On the suggestion re "loo rolls" . You might not be too popular with whoever looks after the plumbing systems in Bulgaria. I believe the reason that the loo roll there is so poor, is so that it breaks down properly when put down the loo and doesn't cause too many blockages. Our soft stuff is much sturdier and more suited to our sewerage systems. I know that in most places in the resort there are bins to put the toilet paper in rather than down the loo but I find that most people ...

Also to carry snacks/drinks for the kids, along with the odd brandy hipflask, (for Bobby). Is it a good idea, or just a naff one? I could wear it a bit lower, to act as extra padding, for the amount of time I’ll probably spend un my ????.
Also, is the ski school, and snowboard school in the same area, Some of our party are skiing, whilst others ...

I personally think a small rucksack is a good idea, but you don't want it too big, as people in your group will use you as a pack horse and off load all their stuff on to you!When I was last in Pamps, the only time we saw the boarding class was when we were whizzing past them
