ATM BOROVETS

i understand that the are 1/2 atm`s in Borovets, is this correct and if so are the reliable enough to not carry a lot of cash in sterling? Any tips for a novice family young children, staying in Hotel Rola?

thanks,
Paul

re: ATM BOROVETS

There are at least 2 in Borovets. Both in my 6 visits there have been reliable! You can however only take out about £30 - £40 (in Levs) at time

Any tips - the Kids will love it. Took my 5 year old for the first time last year, still talks about it (down the boozer with his dad every night)

I agree,
mind you, £40.00 will buy you half the town, as prices are so good there.

re: ATM BOROVETS

yes no problem with atm's.one down at the gondola,to the right of the entrance.we thought the exchange rate was better with atm's than exchanges. only a 3-4 minute walk from the rila. Feb 13th will be our 3rd year at the rila ,2 kids,8 and 11. hotel centre of resort , so handy to pick up skis and for the slopes.you'll love it.rila food a bit boring after a few days but eating out very very cheap. can't recommend it enough.been to france and got ripped off!

hi forgot to say put the kids in ski school, not kindergarden and they will have a ball and come on so quick.it may seem a long day but ours couldn't get enough,3 years ago when we first went with them they were almost 5 and8, they left us behind on the slopes

re: ATM BOROVETS

Kids loved it last year (8 & 6 then), welcome in all the bars & restaurants. Good pizza place (Mamacita's?), but plenty of others as well. Cash machines were fine, the amount you get through in a week it doesn't matter too much about the exchange rate (within reason of course).

The kids loved the tobogganing after we had finished skiing and needed some refreshment, great 'cos many of the bars at the bottom of the slopes hire them out for a few levs per half hour.

You'll all love it, Bill

re: ATM BOROVETS

Last year I only took about £200 IN STERLING and thought i would have to use a ATM. We went so crazy with our cash but struggled to spend it. I say take cash, and change at the hotel if required. I have never trusted the cash machines. No offence to the Bulgarian banks ect...

re: ATM BOROVETS

As of Feb 2012: I used the ATM in the foyer of the Rila hotel with a NatWest Visa debit card (and took out £100 worth of Leva, other posts have said max £40, but these were old posts), I saw other Brits using the ATM at the Gondola, I seem to remember there being an ATM opp. the gondola as well. There is also an ATM 20M to the left of the Rila hotel entrance (facing the Rila from the Nursery slopes) but it was out of money when I tried it. Also heard about an ATM in Flora (hoel or apartments ...

Going again next week, and will update any more info when I get back if I remember.
P.S.Used a couple of the exchange booths and they are all pretty competitive (better rates than NatWest gave me due to charges) especially when you only want to change a small amount. They all take £ and Euro and lots of other currencys.
