re: Advice on my knee injury

Hello PP, Tom and SP
Thanks for your reply.
I have two MRI's on CD which I paid for. I have had trouble getting the written report. Hope fully I will have it next Monday. When I get the written report, I will take advice on here and everywhere.
I do not they say blood is not getting to the damaged part of the knee and there is a lot of fluid in that area.
I will from this weekend be doing very light weight training and be on the cycle machine.

Tom, I find it very funny about nearly falling to sleep in a pizza. I thought it might be me when you mentioned it in a previous post.Smile

SP, I think you will be outnumbered on the first invasion week as you have many from the Fairbank, Tom and probably others. I was born in Manchester, though. Very Happy

Sorry, I had to make a decision last week and cancelled the Travel Republic booking, I now have £40.00 credit to use towards something booked in the next 3 weeks. Hopefully I will be able to go to Borovets at the end of the season. I would have liked to go on the first invasion but my knee is still giving me trouble.

Have a good wek.

Rob

re: Advice on my knee injury

Hi Rob,

Fingers crossed for positive out come, you know yourself if you get out to Borovets at the end of the season make sure you wear a brace/support. (There's always next season.)

Take care, will keep a condition update when out in Borovets.

re: Advice on my knee injury

Hi Rob, keeping it elevated at every opportunity will help massively, also some light yoga stretching will help the blood flow and muscles.
I straind a knee ligament in the summer and had two months to get it sorted for a surfing trip abroad, this technique for me including ice packing it and gentle short exercise on a cross trainer helped me get it strong enough again. Also a knee support through the day. Hope this helps. If in pain make sure to take painkillers. Defiantly try the snow ...

re: Advice on my knee injury

Hello SP, Paul and Trish
Thanks for your replies.
After I had the fall at Borovets on third to last day, I still skied on it and when I arrived back home to see my doctor about the chest infection I picked up at Borovets, I remember saying to him that I had a skiing injury but I am sure it would cure itself.
Two weeks later I was back there but it seemed to heal up. In June it suddenly came back with a vengence. I was limping badly at work. When I was referred to a specialist at a hospital, after the MRI, he told me I would be fine within months and to just take Paracetamol. I asked him about any exercises, he told me to just do walking that came with my job and no other exercises. I found the pain worse and my doctor gave me Tramadol, Meloxicam, told me to buy IBProfen and Paracetamol. I found this all made me very sleepy. He later denied telling me to take Tramadol and IBProfen.
I am now just taking Paracetamol and the herbal tablets SP suggested.
I saw the spcialist again after another MRI and he spoke about an operation but then admitted he was just a junior. He told me to come back the following week and see a senior specialist. That specialist said it did not warrant an operation and getting any information from him about what to do was like getting blood from a stone. His attitude was as he was not going to operate, that was his job done. All I could get from him was to use a cycling machine. I am now inclined to not now take too much notice of what they have said. I did see another specialist there who was much better. He advised me about different types of weight training, acupunctue etc. It was a pity he left that hospital for another one 40 miles away.
I wear a knee brace at all times except in bed. My current brace is the "Adjustable Stabilizing Knee Support " by BODY-TEC. It has side stabilisers made of metal.
I have full use of a gym and exercise classes 24/7. I can also get Acupuncture for a reduced price.
I will try and get the written report by next Monday and hopefully will know what exercises to do.
Thanks for your ideas SP, Paul and Trish.
ONe probem to the healing process is my job. I work on my feet all day, only sitting down to have lunch.

re: Advice on my knee injury

Add good quality cod liver oil to your diet, I use seven seas pure cod liver oil not the high strength stuff which has less cod liver oil in, which acts like a anti inflammatory, two tablespoons a day or at least ten capsules. Works wonders and quickly!

re: Advice on my knee injury

Sounds to me like you need a good physio,

i had knee issues for some time and the best cure i found is exercise to build the muscle up around the knee to help support it.

i was going to suggest a knee support i got mine for first aid for sport and they have a good selection / a tapping guide.
