A boring subject I know, but I'm seeking recommendations from anyone that knows of a good insurance company that would Insure an apartment in Bulgaria. (Pamps)
I was with Devon Direct, but upon renewal they are now asking for the ACT16 certificate, which I provided and, of course, it's is in bulgarian. They wanted it translated into English (at my cost). Thanks but no thanks.
Answers on a post card...Anyone? Someone

Jody! You genius.
Completely forgot about Google translate.
I may just try out Intasure anyway, just so I can stick two fingers up at Devon Direct. (They seemed to move the goalposts around with every answer I gave them)
Thanks Mad Mick & Jody. I have a quote from Intasure which beats the other one I had and they don't want any translations or Act 16, blah blah...
Glad I found you all. Multiple beers all round.
I've got friends staying at our apartment over Christmas , but If i can gather more funds together I will try and get over in February sometime.
Fear not.... everyone gets led astray at Daks. (Me included last year)!! thankfully, the long walk ...

Another boring but probably essential point - has anyone insured through any of these companies actually made a successful claim? We are also looking for an insurer for our apartment in Borovets but from previous experience in the UK, insurance companies are happy to take your money but not so keen to pay out! Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks
we insure with Allianz - a Bulgarian company and we successfully made claims when we had roof leaks the season before last. We have all 41 apartments insured with Allianz and so get discount for group payment and organisation. We felt that we were more likely to have sucessful claims if all apartments in the block were with same company. Our thinking was that if a problem in one apartment affected apartments below then at least we were negotiating with one company rather than one company ...

Thanks for that Pippa. (Long time, no speak)
I'll take note of your comments for future as I've already gone ahead and booked with Intasure.
To date, I've never had to make a claim but as Jo mentioned earlier, the true worth of an Insurance company is when they're asked to pay out. We'll have to wait and see what fate brings.
Thanks again for yours, and everybody else's input.
Hope you get a full house this winter.
I may see you on the slopes this year, that is, If I can russle up ...
