Having being skiing here every year for the past 9 or 10, it does seen odd that they have closed these runs for fog. I too have skiid these being unable to see due to fog. I suspect that for one reason or another the fog is making them particularly dangerous at this time. Sometimes it can be ferociously windy up there. Also the conditions can change in an instant for example you can start at the top of Yastrebetz in a gale -30, ski down to gorgeous sunshine, suddenly hit fog and then end up in a blizzard at the bottom and all on the same run.
Still as I see it, less people on it now means better snow for me when I get out there in Feb
I'd give up dancing if I were you Jez, i'll carve them up nicely for you. You want to start dancing for more snow to cover my tracks. If you want i'll leave you some powder in the crater on the Rila black

Of course it can and indeed this type of thing can and does happen in resorts all over Europe, however is that not what skiing is supposed to be all about ? I dont know what some people made of the slopes being closed for the whole of the last week but to be honest I expect there will be a good number of savvy ski tourists who will be crossing this place of their travel lists for the future.
