BOROVETS LIFTS STILL OFF ???

What is going on there?

Season officially opened last sunday but I think as ever they were caught off guard with the amount of snow that fell in 24 Hours, don't be disheartened the conditions are A1 for skiing, not for living and working forecast is for more flurries this week..

Can anyone possibly imagine such a strike in a modern and developed place like, say, Austria? Or services (i.e. water and electricity) breaking down because of heavy snowfall? You might not be aware but currently around 150 villages/town in Bulgaria do not electricity. I suppose, you get what you pay for - if you pay for a Lada, all you will get is a Lada; if you want a Rolls, you have to pay accordingly.

So are these strikes just in Borovets or all resorts? According to this website all lifts in Bansko are open but the slopes seem quite empty looking at the webcam pics.

But lets not help them eh? Wouldn't be right helping those peasants would it Baz!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't want Bulgaria becoming a modern developed country would we Baz?????

Tube strikes in London, BBC went on strike in the summer, posties going on strike, gas repairmen on strike - wow, what a developed company the UK is...

Oh, and I forgot to mention - that occasion it snowed in London one afternoon at about 4pm and it took people 6 or 7 hours to walk home because all the transport stopped...

Yes, how developed the UK is... if we had the same snow in the UK as there had been in Bulgaria over the weekend, this country would have completely shut down... nothing would have been gritted - and if it had been, it wouldn't have made any difference.
