Balkan Flights

First time we flew with Balkan was 1991. They had red brocade curtains over all windows - a bit like the inside of a fortune tellers tent! In flight meal was one SERIOUSLY big tomato, a slice of (horse?) meat and a piece of something that was cross between bread and a dog biscuit! In flight entertainment was saying your prayers and avoiding water dripping from rusty bolts holding cabin together.

My first flight was 1994 and it was the only smoking flight I have ever been on! - You genuinely could not see 3 rows in front of you, and this was on a plane with an engine on the roof!!

To put it into perspective though, a return BA flight from Heathrow to Sofia will cost you over £1,OOO.

Plus on Balkan flights if you need more leg-room, you can just pick the seat up and move it back Razz

First time we flew with them the 'drinks' trolley was akin to your old grannies tea trolley with a bottle of vodka and a bottle of brandy on it - nothing else Confused

Ah the good old days.

re: Balkan Flights

I think we also paid a supplement of £10 per person so we did not have to have the in-flight meal!

re: Balkan Flights

The first time I flew Balkan was 10 years ago from Belfast and I kid you not, it was like a floating bar. Nobody had seat belts on at take-off, Bucks Fizz was brought round to all the passengers BEFORE take off, anyone who smoked, lit up and then the stewardess brazenly walked down the isle with, I kid you not, a tray with two glasses and a bottle of Smirnoff on it straight down to the cockpit! Needless to say, we were quite merry by the time we arrived. I love Balkan flights - they make ...
