For us lowly tourists from outside of Bulgaria, it is definitely cheaper to buy it as part of a package holiday before you get to Bansko, we met quite a few people who thought it would be cheaper from the gondola, it isn't. Seemed very cheap to me compared to rest of Europe, as were private snowboard lessons/guide.
Absolutely right Nik - travel companies buy in bulk so they get them cheaper and pass that saving on to their customers - however very few if any will sell them unless you book the holiday with them as well.
A law was introduced last year under European legislation to outlaw this practice.
If it is still done illegally then sobeit - but I will never recommend or advise anybody to do anything that is illegal nor would I expect regular posters to make it sound that it is common practice to do so.
Alas Pete,
This practice is common place. Bulgarians are treated differently to us mere Brits. You can see this also Pete if you ask for a menu in Bulgarian. It has a different price to what Brits pay.
There are many laws in place in many lands around the world. Not everyone follows them.
But good point i too would not advise anyone should break the law.
But with that in mind you are not breaking the law in asking a friend to get you a liftpass.
