Bansko - Off Piste

Just a word of warning to people going Bansko, don't go too far off piste at the top of the mountain to the right of the snow park as you look down at it. My brother got lost by going to far right, so me and a mate went to find him, ended up taking 5 hours of walking, boarding, falling plus thumbing a lift to get back in to resort. Only bonus was we met 7 other brits who also got lost and had an awesome last night with them all.

re: Bansko - Off Piste

Last year our guide showed us the off piste area to be on the left not right as you look down from top station, or rather keep walking forwards and right from top of chair lift and drop down into the valley that heads back to the shooting, cross country track area.

Yeah we thought about attempting that, but wasn't sure where we would end up. Tried off pisting to the side of Tomba which was pretty interesting, didn't make it over as far as the shooting range tho.

Lol, yeah i think he did as well. We didn't intentionally mean to go down there. Was completely by accident, we was following other people tracks.

Still a good off piste ride is worth of 5 hours of thumbling. Cool

re: Bansko - Off Piste

to the left is impossible to get lost in the mountain but it is a bit harder ride to the right thought is much more fun but a lot easier to get lost in the woods.my advise is to follow the big river downhill.

Yes Mat, mmmmmmmmm the trees Cool
We dropped into the trees at im assuming the same point and inadvertently ended up going into the valley to the Daminitsa hut. Waist to chest deep powder, and a near 40 degree descent at the end found us on the forest track in the valley floor... with a metre of snow on it... four and a half hours of walking eventually got us back on to the mountain road.... Now, we were not actually lost, but it was a bad move wasn't it Dave ???
