They opened resort on the 1st Dec last year. There were only 4runs open and the ski road all the way down but this was all due to snow cannons. We have been told temps in Nov are going to be very low so hopefully they can start the snow cannons early again and open up for beginning of Dec but unless it snows again this will only be artificial snow. The nusery/begginners slopes were open.
NB, snow has been ordered, and i'll be soooooooooooooo angry if it does not arrive on time, my nearest and dearest is absolutley right though, cold temps forecast for Nov, so cannons should be running to get a base down....
Hi Steve C so if i have this right some of the slopes will be shut at some point between the 16th and 23rd when me and my friends have booked to come and enjoy some real snow.
Hello everyone, im planning a group ski trip for my friends from university, and we have the ween from 25th to 31jan booked.... do you think that the resort will be fully functioning and all pistes open after the competitions?? thanks all
I heard that all the people of Bulgaria go up to the top of the mountain in Bansko on New Years Day, for the National pissing championships. The result of this event is that most of the snow on the mountain melts, therefore there will be no snow to ski on up to the 9th of January.
I skied the Tomba the day after the SuperG last year. It was not nearly as 'bullet proof' as I had feared. However, this is probably due to the snow the day before the race and the fairly warm conditions.
There are plenty of slopes to ski even if the tomba is shut. Chalin Valog is always quiet and the black there is probably steeper (and less busy) than the tomba.
