Bansko Night Ski-ing

Heard the ski run home is flood lit

Is that every night? or only certain nights?

Does the gondola still run till the ski runs closed at 9:30pm or is it a case of you stay up the mountain for food if you want to board later on in the dark?

re: Bansko Night Ski-ing

To my knowledge the ski road has never been flood lit, and the gondola definately closes by 5pm... There are lights all the way down but they are not lit...
You could i suppose ski down in the dark, but appeciate that if you had a problem you would be on your own Wink
There is night skiing in Borovets on the lower Rila slopes...

re: Bansko Night Ski-ing

looks like the ski road home?

supposedly its "meant" to be flood lit from 5:30-9:30pm so that people can use the ski road home in the dark, I guess after having a meal higher up the slopes at the end of the day

Anyone know what the truth is though, I think on balkan it said it was only saturday nights, other sites have said each night.

I definately dont remember it being available when i went back in 2007, going back in Feb 2010

re: Bansko Night Ski-ing

Even this site mentions it "A bonus for the skier is the 7 kilometers long lighted ski - road between Banderishka polyana and the town. Some of the pistes offer wonderful conditions for night skiing, which is available for everyone from 18.30 until 21.30."

I had seen on another site it just said saturday night, which means 99% of people will miss it as they will have just arrived in resort and wont have a lift pass yet, or will be going home on the saturday night

re: Bansko Night Ski-ing

balkan says -
Skiing After Sunset!
The night skiing event allows skiers and snowboarders to relax after a hard day on the runs in one of the dining establishments in the Banderitsa area and then, after sunset, ski down the unique 7 km lighted ski run to town in the company of experienced ski and snowboard teachers. Night skiing, which is open to everyone on Saturday evening, can also be booked on weekdays through your holiday representative on the spot.
