Been to both and i much prefer Bansko, much larger skiing area and a more modern lift system, if you stay clear of the school holidays it won't be to busy, more places for eating out and drinking plus more to do at night, just ignore the amount of building work in the town and you should have a great time
Not long for me now so I am really excited! I do hope I have the same experiance that I had with Borovets. I keep seeing 'BANSKO AWFUL' comments and was starting to get a little scared! lol
Read the feed though and it was all about people arguing! So not much help!
Ok Aimee, gonna stick my neck out and get it cut off most likely... vested interest and all that
Banskos skiing ??? as compared to Boro...
Newer better linked lift system, better linking on pistes, less areas to walk or push, better snow record, more cannons, better places to eat and drink on the mountain.... dangerous one, cheaper more varied runs... need i go on ???

The town is at the base of the mountain, a large town with very varied places to eat and drink, a large cross section of available accomadation, shopping etc...
Yes, it has been described as a building site, but this is mostly concentrated across the river at the top of town..
Prices in the town can be at all levels, its possible to pay a lot if you wish, but with the right directions, great meals and drinks can be found at very reasonable prices.
I like Boro, its differant.. but if pushed what im describing will be accepted by even ardent Boro fans..
Boro is more of a party town, perhaps a better apres ski atmosphere... but you pay for it, the prices in the town a bit above what we pay here in Bansko...
Come with an open mind and enjoy
I will do, Staying in the Perun Hotel...Any ideas what that is like?
The runs look look a lot better...certainly look more challanging. This will be my forth time so i still see myself as a intimediate..i do lack confidence...but think i need a challange!
Glad you said that there are better places to eat as that is what Boro lacks. Expensive too...so glad to hear it is a little cheaper in Bansko.
I was there around this time of year in 2007 ... and the snow was very similar to the way it is now ... this report is written from the point of view of a Boro vet going to Bansko for the first time ...

re: Bansko compared to Borovets
The perun is a lovely hotel in the northern part of the resort, very close the friendly bar which is good.
I have boarded in both for the last 5 years & prefer Bansko for its mountain & snow & borovets for it's nightlife but that gets a bit tedious after a while.
