Bansko gondolas

Hi, I keep reading different things in different places. Are there 2 gondolas working in Bansko now please? And are the queues as bad as some people make out? We're going at half term. Lastly are there REALLY packs of wild dogs running round?

I never saw packs of wild dogs, there were dogs on the slopes but think they do belong to people very tame, just lay in the snow and let people stroke them if you want.

only one gondla, Yes the ques can be bad, it is a free for all, worst (if thats a word) on the first day as everyone goes down togeather to get their gear, best advice get there early in the morning, we tryed to be there before 9 and it was Ok.

We're also going at half term and also went last year at Easter. We never had any problem with queues for the gondola but then we usually left a bit later so I think we may have missed any rush. We never saw packs of dogs but there were dogs around. We saw a couple at the bottom of the gondola but they were very friendly and loved attention so I wouldn't worry about rabid packs lol

re: Bansko gondolas

Last week whilst in Bansko - we had a 25/20 minute wait (max) for the Gondola on the Sunday morning, then no wait whatsoever for it the remainder of the week.

There are dogs around the gondola station and around the old town in general - ignore them and they will usually ignore you. If not, as we found, the locals husher them away for you.

There is a lovely little dog on the nursery slope.

Hi.

I recently went to Bansko.

I saw several dogs but decided to eat some of them. There will now be three fewer than there were two weeks ago.

Halfterm starts 16th feb and ends a week later, the half term week is the busiest week in the whole year for bansko as all the school children are out. Usually the lift can be around a 15 minute wait however during halfterm it increases to around 45/60 minutes. This happens because if you are in ski school you always meet at the top of the gondola for 10:00 so all of the ski school groups try and get up at the same time!!!!!!! It's a right pain but there are wys you can avoid it.

1) If you do not have lessons then wander up to the gondola at about 10:15 when the queue has diminished

2) If you do attend ski school and are hiring out equipment get there for when it opens (9ish i think???) It is an early start but hey you beat the majority of the queue an can sit in a cafe at the top with a hot chocolate untill your lesson, rather than fighting german queue jumpers at the bottom Razz

The queue builds up to maximum in like literally 5 minutes so be quick!!!!

As for the dogs they do hang about at the bottom of the gondola looking for food etc and you can sometimes spot them through the tree on the slopes but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't touch them because the number of diseases they carry i astronomical and they have been known to turn savage when hungry etc.

I live in bansko and infact have ties with ulen in my work as an accountant. was out on the slopes yesterday, it is lush atm and looks very pretty i tend to hit the slopes during halfterm coz sometimes just sometimes the busyness gives it some atmosphere.
