re: Bansko mens slalom

Two years running same runs closed a bit of a coincidence. The price of lift pass for the amount of terrain, they should make every effort to have as many pists open as possible.

It' not rocket science to bury one's head in the snow and pretend everything is perfect. It is in everyone's interest skiers and people who make a living in Bansko for it to succeed. If people do cancel and book elsewhere is that the answer?

re: Bansko mens slalom

Thanks for the feedback guys... can't change my dates (I work for the ambulance service and holidays are issued so can rarely be changed... we booked this really early too.

Do you think it'll be really busy all week or just the weekend? I can live without tomba as long as there is enough snow for the other black runs!! Just don't want it to be too busy all week... that's why we pick january to start with!!

What's Borovets like? We may consider a resort change!

re: Bansko mens slalom

Hi Rach,
Borovets is a good alternative for Bansko, transfer from Sofia airport is much shorter. Borovets is not a town like Bansko, but a ski resort (alt. 1300m.) in the Rila mountains. Skiruns go from max. 2.500 down to the resort. "push" the button Borovets on this site and you will find all the information you need. I ski in Borovets every year and still like it very much.

The disturbing thing is that this shows events during the week too, not just at the weekend... can anyone confirm if this will really be the case... am i going to have to change resorts or week to get a good week skiing?

re: Bansko mens slalom

Hi Rach,
Come to Borovets ! Stay away from Bansko 2 weeks before the slalom untill 1 week after. The ( race -) slopes will be closed for tourists for some weeks ( preparation / trainings etc.) The gondola will be very (!) busy - during the womens racing last winter it was impossible to get upstairs. If you want to ski during your holiday, dont go there, unless you like to see the slalom ofcourse.

re: Bansko mens slalom

I have to agree with Dan the man, i have a feeling that these Slalom events are actually Europa Cup, the second level of competition...
Hey, but what the hell do i know ??? Im going to suggest closing the whole mountain, and implement snowman building competitions.... knowing the negativity on here there most likely won't be enough snow though Confused
