re: Bansko mens slalom

Hi Steve C ( family from Mell B ? Very Happy )
No, I don't work for Borosport, I work for a bank in Holland. My wife is Bulgarian so I ski in Borovets ( close to the family) every year.
Where is your work ? Wink Sorry, but it's a fact. On mayor ski-racing events the slopes they use are not available for at least some weeks. Everybody who was in Bansko last season during the women's superG and downhill can confirm this.
I think that people who work hard all year to enjoy a week skiing have ...

Hi Nico..
Not related to Mel B (is anyone ??)
I was in Bansko for the whole of last season, in fact the whole of the previous season as well, and have been a long term visitor for seven years..
I can tell you that the access red slope to the top of Tomba was closed for ten days to allow massive movement of snow for the first corner, and for a week of watering, the down slope from the middle station (Tomba chair) was also closed (though we skied it with new snow) and Tomba itself. It ...

It really caused little inconvenience other than not being able to ski on down Tomba (big deal !!).. The races caused the biggest headache at the gondola because the VIP visitors had a walk on pass, causing fare paying guests to wait (2 hours at peak). Now i agree that this is unacceptable and has been bought up with Ulen, also the non-promotion of their free bus service for guests over the race period. Its a learning curve that hopefully will enable future events to be run better. I agree people should be made aware but at least make them aware with the facts, not scaremongering. Next seasons events are Europeon Cup, they will not command the crowds nor the coverage of World Cup, but hopefully it will give Ulen another chance to run an event successfully, prempting the following seasons where we have four World Cup events... We shall see Cool

re: Bansko mens slalom

Hi Steve,
Ofcourse people/tourists should not be scared, but - well informed. As a regular visitor on this site I know you are localy well informed, so your opinion is being appriciated. Now the dates of the events are public, so everybody can make up his/her mind. Many people will come to see the races, some will choose to go skiing elswere. It won't effect me as I will be enjoying the slopes in Borovets round Xmas and newyear. I wish everybody a good season and happy skiing in Bansko.
