Good point Garry, and if our apartment was ready we would give it a go. Having said that, our bunch want to try a hotel first as they've not been to Bansko before, but have all said that if the apartments out there look good they will try one next year!
bikergirl your being a defeatist you should encourage your group to stay in appartments so they can get the benefits of a hotel at half the price no excuses about it being your first time if you went to french alps you would stay in a challet more than likely.
Hi Garry, I did try, but they have all been spoilt past few years staying in hotels (which I have to admit have been good....food, beer, everything!!) so have to wean them off hotels now. They've all said they will try apartments next year, once they've seen Bansko, so I can't complain tooooo much!! and I think I've got a pretty good deal this time, so even if we eat out, and I'm sure we will, it won't cost us too much more which bring's me back to my original question, does anyone ...

We stayed there for Easter 2005 as our apartment was not ready at that time (Still isn't but that is another story). Lovely hotel, nice people. Great facilities and very pleasant environment. The food, however, was inedible and we ate out all the time. Sorry not to be able to give you good news. However, it is very cheap to eat out and the food in practically every restaurant in town is very very good.

Most apartments (that are lucky enough to be complete)are very nice and I agree with the person who says that you should go for an apartment and save lots of cash - if your friends can be persuaded. You don't need a hotel. Eg you can use the first class spa facilities at the Kempinksi as a non-guest for about £11 for the whole day.
Whatever you choose you will have a great time - it's a wonderful place and you will be pleased that you have bought there.
Go for the appartment we did last year, worked out realy cheap and the food is much better away from the hotels, everyday in the gondla we heard people moaning about the food in the hotel, got to say we had to brag about how good our meals had been, never had a bad one. there are some realy nice appartments next to the kempski, easy access to the slopes, lift passes are around £100 and ski hire is realy easy to get close to the slopes and reasonably prices, can get some good flight deals ...

Would you be kind enough to share your knowledge of the whole buying process for Bansko? I visited there last year for a ski holiday, staying in Hotel Lion and had an excellent time. We are going back in Feb 2007 and are seriously looking into purchasing property. Email me direct if you like.
