Mafia yeah, they are there, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of them, and to witness a true part of the culture of this part of the world.
BUT- we as tourists are more than welcome, and it is us they wish to keep happy and to have us return, so in turn they look after our best intrests in the main.
I would suggest you behave however and dont abuse the locals when intoxicated, as anywhere else in the world, the locals look after their own!
Been to Borovets four times now and ...
