Hi I just booked my trip to Borovets today for the 6th March staying in the Rila Hotel, 6 of us going. I was just wondering what the off piste is like there. We usually go to Tignes and its amazing as the slopes are pretty much completely open so you can go anywhere you want really.
From the pictures it looks as though there are lots of trees in Borovets just wondering if this was the case for the whole resort or if there are some big open areas to be found.

Was a bit nervous about booking given the current conditions in Borovets but I am hoping there should be plenty of snow for when we arrive.
yeah there is some off piste up top might need to be careful tho given the current snow cover! i did some few years ago way out almost as far as you could see!!!
check this out its pretty cool make sure and read the text aswell
If there are heavy falls of snow - listen to what the locals tell you regarding off piste skiing/boarding as there have been avalanches there in the past.
I took my mate to the off piste bit way passed the gondola a couple
of years ago. He has been skiing all over the place and usually goes to America. Having had a good couple of days off the slopes he clai
ed it was the beat off piste he had ever been on.
Just be carefull when your up there!
Role on 8th Feb!!!!!!!!

From the top of Markujik 3, traverse the first slope to the avalanche slope (its name, not condition)... Perfect gradiant for learning, getting your first turns
Areas between the Markujik runs are also good if decent cover. Some good runs under Yastrabets express, and top of gondola... Possible to traverse to Mussala bowl and the hut, would suggest local guide, and the run down basically follows the top of the Mussala pathway for about 5km...
There is good off-piste to be found
exactly did any one check out the video i posted yet its pretty scary but very very true anyone going off piste should have done atleast one avalanche awareness/saftey course.
