Borovets Skiing

Hi - Going to Borovets on 26th.

Does anyone know if all ski-runs are open, and if there's loads of snow?

If all runs are not open, about what proportion are, and is there any website, that can give me this information?

Thanks

re: Borovets Skiing

Looking at the rest of the comments on the forum, snow isn't looking too good! We're flying out on the 27th, so praying for some, but at the end of the day it's a week away from the UK!!

re: Borovets Skiing

The gondola was closed in the morning. It was open up to mid station in the after noon with one run open & it was icy.

It was 3 degrees at the Rila hotel today, too warm for my liking!

The Rila slopes were all open. The snow if frankly poor & the resort is super quiet. According to the reps there are only 500 people in the resort at the moment ... however it is expected to get busier after Christmas.

We need some snow!

Hi,
22.12 snow conditions are very poor. From tomorrow/wednesday temperature is above 0c., also on the higher slopes. New snow expected not before monday 28.12
Markujike slopes - today closed as for poor snow conditions.
Yastrebets slopes; 1; closed ......... " ........
Yastr. 2 and 3 open, reasonable conditions
In front of the Rila Hotel ( martinovi baraki slopes ) - only the lower ( drag-lifts ) are working.
New snow expected from monday. Sorry. Skiing here since monday.

re: Borovets Skiing

I sort of agree, but whichever site the above report is from, it is slightly wrong. Yastrebets are all closed due to high winds - ie: the 4 man chair isn't working, even though the slopes are in pretty good condition. Also, in addition to the drag lifts, the 4 man chair on the Rila side (up to George's run) is working but again, snow is more like a river!!

re: Borovets Skiing

I've had a look on the Snow forecast and until the 28th it only seems there is going to be 8cm of snowfall of which is all on the 27th.

Its better than none, but still not enough for a decent ski holiday. Sad

Information found here, check it out! Cool

I hope it gets better, i really do. Webcams don't look to promising either!

re: Borovets Skiing

Myborovets - sorry, I think you got me wrong - I was talking about Nico's report saying that only the drag lifts on the Rila were open which isn't the case...
