Hi, i just got back from Borovets and had a greast time, my grouch and i do have one is the long waiting times for the gondala. on the 4 days we went up it we had to queue for50-70 minutes on average. The reason for this became apparent when you eventually get to the front of the queue and se the complete shamble that the operator allows it to be.

The gondala will accommadate 6 people yet i saw many leaving the station with sometime just 3 or 4 people in them, i saw one with just 1 guy in it cos the group of 5 behind him didnt want to share with him, how selfish are these people, each gondala should leave with 6, i know its a bit cramped in them but better that and the queue will go down a lot quicker.
Ok stupid selfish holiday makers but the main responsibility of fillin them up should lie with the stupid lift operator, he shouldnt allow them to leave with so few people in them, he should tell people to get in and fill them, ok your group may be split up for the ride up but you will soon meet at the top.
Yes your right, only 2 boarders can get in, but that dont stop 4 skiers getting in with them as well. that 1 guy i saw in a gondala on his own was a skier and so were the 5 who got in the gondala after him. I am a skier by the way and i dont care who i share with if it helps to get the queue down quicker for those behind me.
There are 6 slots for skis and 2 for boards, oh and 6 seats.
What about the que at mid-station?
Always helps relieve the waiting time there if there are a couple of seats available in the gondola coming up from the bottom.
My ski,s are K2s they wont go in behind the boards and like i said get their 9 and you wont have to queue for long 5th
year 6 times never waited longer than 20
I would get there at 9 but my group dont meet up until 9.45 outside the rila, thats the time set by the instructer. And no its not a good point by Fiona, the people waiting at the mid station are wanting the bottom station queue to stay long so there are seats available so they can get back up to top a 2nd time while people at the bottom are still waiting to get to the top a 1st time.
Yes thats true, but its only a 20-to 25 minute ride and seeing as im beginner/intermediate, i would rather spend more time on the slopes and less time in the queue. Practicing skiing instead of talking about it in a gondala is way better, also most conversations in the gondala are about football, where you from, what job you do and where and how many times you skied befor, etc.
Plus whats wrong talking to strangers, iv had some good tips off them, like which resorts, runs, best equipment ...

In a way we are both right Spongebob, and Fiona all im saying is, where practical, it is better to fill them gondalas to full and get that queue down quicker.
Im still annoyed with that one guy who got into one by himself instead of getting in the one before, as it only had 3 people in it, which is why i posted this thread in the 1st place.
Nothing wrong talking to strangers, people think i,m a bit
sometimes. yea ok if there,s only 1 person on his own
fair enough but sometimes the lift operaters will send
empty pods up to the mid station if it,s over crowed their.
Anyway i skied with quiet a big group this year and meet
them up on the top when we could get up their thur
fri was the best ski all week that only lasted for a couple
of hours each day. When i go on holiday i like to chill I,m
not going to freak because ...
