Borovets

Hi Guys,

Just returned from Boro after a weeks skiing and children boarding.

We stayed at The samakov and were not impressed at all.The hotel Samakov ( in parts) is run down and my room was not very nice at all.My wife could not mange to flush the loo- as such force was required and the water was cold after 4pm.

We ate in the Restaurant one night but did not like the food-so we opted for the local restaurants.I have spoke to a few people who stayed at Samakov that week and they have had food poisoning- not surprised the way the food is exposed to all sorts of people.i even saw a man pick up a sausage with his hand take a bite then just threw it back for someone else to eat it!!!

Snow was Ok.

As a family we are not and shall not be returning to Eastern europe/Bulgaria.

re: Borovets

sorry to here you didn't have such a good time.

I must admit although I think borovets is great the samakov is not the four star hotel that it claims. Took the family 3 years ago and they were supposed to be doing the rooms up then. 3 years later and nothings changed and I also admit that I wouldn't eat in the restaurant but with cheap prices and good food to be found elsewhere in the resort I think the value compared to western europe is great.

Our group are fancying a change next ...

Our group are fancying a change next year and we are thinking of going to Bansko to one of the newer hotels next year - they seem to be alot of investment into the town.

Back to borovets this weekend for the second time this year on saturday which is one thing I couldn't afford given the amount of money iI spent in Italy last year!!

re: Borovets

I don't know yet accomodation on arrival - last minute deal for the lads all we need is a bed!!!! so it will do me.

Our group(mixed - had to take the girls) was there in Jan and stopped at the Samakov and although I agree with your comments about rooms being tired and the food not great we had a great time - the rest of the hotel fine and the ski school was great especially for those who hadn't skied before.

As for the hot water had the same problem in Sauze last year tip - don't try ...

re: Borovets

I would of prefered to pay double- at least I would have had a good time- and more importantly a luxourious hotel with great food. Also, not to be disturbed during the night by foolish yobs who had clearly had to much to drink.
