Bring back the Forum's edge

Damo has a point.
The "edge" has gone.
I have an idea that I will be announcing later.
Why not all have a brainstorm & put forward your proposals?
Don't be embarassed. Any ideas at all. Put them forward.
You will not be ridiculed for any stupid suggestions. Just go for it.

Bring back the Forum's edge

The frustrations many of you may have regarding this site are very much shared by those very few people who actually do their best to look after it and make it welcoming, fun, informative and child friendly for everyone.

It is very seldom that anyone from BulgariaSki in Sofia shows any real interest in the site and it is left to us to determine what is, and what is not acceptable on here. That will never please everyone - but we do our level best to keep it fair and consistant.

If you include the old style site that postings were not carried over to the new site, then I am probably over 20,000 postings now and still going despite some pretty nasty abuse from one or two people which I do not feel was deserved - nor was it at all pleasant.

With the upgrade of adding log-ins and email addresses now compulsary we can keep a much better hand on monitoring and editing posts as well as being able to perminantly block postings from those who choose for whatever reason to just want to annoy others or cause trouble. No names - but I'm sure many of you will remember certain offenders from the past.

We now have the task of winning back those who may have left due to the constant bickering that went on. The summer site also had the same problem and posts there are now just a fraction of what they used to be. A repair job is also in place over there but the return is very slow at the moment.

However we can only monitor what is posted, and it's very much down to you the posters to make this site great once again through your comments and participation.

I have spent hours on here posting quizzes, silly poems, music links, jokes, as well as keeping everyone updated whenever I can about conditions and breaking news. Kas does the same for Borovets along with Steve C and Nightmuffy for Bansko, and Arron has also been a great addition to the team. We have Mark IOW keeping us updated with his weather reports and many regulars always ready to add their comments on a wide range of questions and subjects.

Do I think there is a problem on here?

No not really but I'm sure if we did not monitor the site on a daily basis then it would degenerate into a mass free for all very quickly. Comments such as 'This Board Has Lost It's Edge' are quite hurtful to those of us who do our very best to keep the standards up - but we can't please everyone as I've already said.

Of course we welcome constructive criticism and will do our very best to respond in a positive way if we feel it is best for both the board and the majority of it's members.

But please cut us a little slack - we do it for nothing - we do it because we enjoy it - and we do it because we share a common love for Bulgaria.

No other reasons than those.

Have a great time this season guys and

& I'm here because I enjoy it. I would like to think that I contribute to the fun & can give helpful advice at times. Even though really I know deep down that I've never offered anything useful. But, who cares, I do enjoy it.

So let's not worry too much about fixing something that isn't broken. Pete and the guys do a great job that the rest of us all beneit from.

But here is a chance for some of that missing banter. (if it is missing). Why not all throw your ideas in the ring & we'll ...

So, standby for my first suggestion shortly.
(Pete, between you & I, don't expect anything too sensible).

re: Bring back the Forum's edge

I have to agree with Pete on this... we do spend lots of time trying to update people and also delete posts that become very personal which does nothing to help newbies etc searching out info on Bulgaria and certainly doesn't encourage them to post. There are also lots of regulars on here who provide great, non-biased feedback.

Also, last year over 50% of the people that introduced themselves to us in Borovets, used the forum to book their hols, check snow / piste conditions etc but just ...

Also, last year over 50% of the people that introduced themselves to us in Borovets, used the forum to book their hols, check snow / piste conditions etc but just never posted, hence making the forum seem a lot quieter / less used than it actually is. The Forum meets were great to meet some of the posters (and a lot of non-posters who are now posters) and it would be good if the same could happen in Pamps / Bansko.

I understand about the banter etc however some of the other sites are all about banter and are far less used...

It is also only November and I am sure more and more posters will come along soon...

Hi John Dutson,

Did you enjoy your first post?

Can I suggest that you keep the momentum going by replying to the thread "So - where is home for everyone?"

5 Minute Management Course

Lesson 1 :

A priest offered a Nun a lift...

She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.

The priest nearly had an accident.

After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.....

The nun said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'

The priest apologized 'Sorry sister, but the flesh is weak.'

Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.

On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, 'Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.'

Moral of the story:
If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.
