Meat and potato are in many guises.Lots of salad and cakes.I am a meat eater, but you can find many restaurants offering cheap pizza, pasta, chinese etc. You won't go hungry , as after a day skiing ,i was eating anything in sight ! Bulgaria is very healthy when it comes to eating, lots of vegatables, salads - shopska salad my favorite but you must to add oil to it to eat it the true bulgarian way.
Lots of potatoes, dont forget bulgarians eat their food warm - a few hotels have microwaves in order to heat the food up to more of a British temparature.
I think your'e telling porkies!!! the food is not all that good, for those delicute little British tummies, remember the summer spent in the doctors on a drip!!!
Tell the truth sometimes the food is really dodgy.Don't eat anthing in the dark, sometimes the restaurants are poorly lite, make sure the meat looks cooked through and don't put too much oil on things, there's good oil and there's the stuff they put in the transfer busses...

Bulgarians do like there food cold, but they shouldn't expect the tourists to have the same so always ask for the food to be heated.
Bulgarians are not fen of junk food "cuisine", but of fresh ingredients, usually grilled or roasted for best flavour, never deep fried.
Food is simple, prepared with local herbs and served warm, since too hot is bad for your teeth, throat and stomach and the flavour is best felt at certain temperature.
Vegetarians have no problem, menus are abundant with salads, appetizers, white cheese prepared in thousands of ways-in parchment, in a gyuveche, stuffed in veggies, etc.

Did you think you are going to another planet with no vegetation? Or maybe Arctica?
What potatoes? Bulgaria is not Ireland. Bread is consumed a lot more than potatoes. Plus, BG soils are very fertile and produce any veggies you could possibly want(except winter months, of course). Add lots of sunshine and you get very sweet fruits and veggies.
It's neither Ireland, neither Siberia, neither Arctica!
Isn't it high time to get a little less ignorant?!? Check the map of Europe for a start.
hey Julie what about your husbands Bulgarian bean soup, you telling me that's not divine!!! ok guys so I fess up yes on a drip in the Summer after 5 or 6 days of not managing to even keep water down, but that was due to the divine Bulgarian weather and also the gorgeous men - they gave my stomach butterflies.
I'm with Lenny on this one. The food in Bulgaria is great. If you're used to fast food and live on a diet of burgers, pizza, curries etc then the food may not be to your liking but on the whole it's very good and made with fresh ingrediants.
If you're going to a different country try some of the local foods and the cheese dishes are up there with some of the nicest dishes I've tasted in the world.
I've come down with bad food poisening back home in New Zealand and in the UK but it'd ...
