Chair lifts in Pamps

Can anybody help re a chair lift. Hubby's examining every piste map he can find of Pamps, as well as any online vids/pics he can see. Can anybody confirm or deny the following. The chair lift from the bottom (by the Malina Chalets and the Ski Equipment place) to central/midway station - is this a single man or a 3/4 man chair lift. Also, is he right that there is another chair lift from here straight to the top. We want to go to middle station at first rather than straight to the top, ...

Also, is he right that there is another chair lift from here straight to the top. We want to go to middle station at first rather than straight to the top, but dont want the kids (especially the 5 year old) to have to go on a single chair on her own. If he's right, and the single is the only one to go to middle station, is it acceptable to go all the way to the top on the 3/4 man and then come back down again on the chair to the middle station (probably calling everything by the wrong name!) I think I've seen people riding down in the chair lifts before, but he thinks thats a no no. Thanks again for all your help, I'm so glad I discovered this website Very Happy

re: Chair lifts in Pamps

Meggy,
The chair lift from down by the Malina Chalets to the mid-station is a single person lift. The studenetz (I think that is how it is spelt, apoligies if I am wrong) is the 3 man lift right to the top. To get from the bottom to the middle as a family group, you will have to take the 3 man lift from the bottom to the top, then take the 4 man lift, from the top to the middle. Unless you want to brave the single man lift......

I hope this helps.

re: Chair lifts in Pamps

The main chair lift (4 man) takes you to the top, which is near the ski equip/malina, but also as you correctly state there is a one man, which will take you towards the middle of the resort. I have been a few pamps, and you do often see people going down on the lifts, mainly people who work in the restaurants etc, the only trouble you will have taking the 4 man to the top, as its a little walk from there to the lift that will take you down to the middle, and of course, skiers etc. If you ...

I am sure maybe if your husband/yourself had a nice word with the man working the lift taking you to middle station (another 3/4man) he would allow you to take this to middle. Sometimes you do see skiers going down on lifts, such as after they have been in there 1st ski lesson, and aren't confident to take the whole run all the way back to the bottom. I know it sounds confusing, and maybe a little worried, but I am sure you will be fine. Very Happy

re: Chair lifts in Pamps

Basically Meggy, I think what we are both trying to say is that you can use the ski lifts to get down the mountain as well as up. Last season when I was there in March, you had to, there was no snow on the bottom half of the mountain

re: Chair lifts in Pamps

There's also a back way ... Ski Station 1, just outside the main town, has a 3(?) man lift that goes up to the mid-station.

re: Chair lifts in Pamps

Thanks guys. Next mission. Hubby trying to find out if we can arrange a private session for a couple of hours for our 5 and 7 year old. We believe that ski school is minimum age 7. Hubby's a good skiier (although I'm pants Very Happy) so just a couple of hours with someone else telling them what to do sounds like a good plan. Any ideas??

re: Chair lifts in Pamps

Try Interski.
Google them or there was a thread a bit further back.
We are using them for the 2nd year.
