Just been looking at various reviews about Borovets and have come across a few mentioning crime around Borovets, I wondered how accurate this was? People saying they attacked at night and in one held up at gun point?! Surely this is a one off?
Also if anyone has information about the hotel lion I be interested to ask a few questions
Sorry but where do you live in the UK? Like almost anywhere there is some crime but reckon it is safer than where I come from.... This will be my 10th visit and neither I or any of people that I have gone with have ever been the subject of any crime other than inflated prices due to half term. That's not to say that i've not heard of the odd issue but it really is like anywhere else that you get tourists and as a tourist you should be a little cautious and dont leave your wallet lying around ...

You should get a safe deposit box available in most of the hotels or apartment complexes. Common sense prevails
Kieran, remmember that very few people post posite reports in comparison to those who post negative ones, go with an open mind and take sensible precautions as you would at home and you will be fine.
We have been going to BG for the past 6 years (Bansko) and have not had a problem.
Hi Kieran, been to Borough 12 times in the last 7 years ,quite often on my own, usually out till 3 ish in the morning, been in buzz bar and occasionally the more adult bars for a late drink and in all that time never had one problem, obviously I'm not looking for trouble and don't go in a bar/club flashing a wallet of cash,so I would think trouble is more the exception rather than the rule,so go with an open mind and.enjoy yourself,Rigs
Oops, meant to say Borovets, also never stayed at the Lion but dropped people of on transfer, looks nice but a little way out of the village, probably ly fine, although if you were going out for nightlife I would probably pick somewhere more central,Rigs
been to boro 3 times and never heard or had any problems in resort, bar my friend being short changed by 1lev at the go go girls bar, opposite the gondalor, when he asked for this the lady at the bar said "you big englishman!!! moaning about 1 lev", threw down her bar towel and stormed off behind curtain!! we promptly left
be extra caustious if you do the sofia trip on the way to airport, a guy in are group had his wallet picked from pocket on the steps to cathedral
Been to Boro several times and the only crime Ive come across was when one of the maids in the Iglika ate a bar of Milka out of my minibar. Nearly caused an international incident when I refused to pay on checkout. Apart from that Ive staggered around the village at all hours and never felt worried or threatened.
Regarding crime in Borovetz, this is our 5th time with young daughters ( just 2 of us this time ) we have never felt unsafe anywhere in the resort. Only place to beware is the buzz bar as our daughter had her phone stolen last year. As other people have mentioned As for the Lion hotel we have stayed there and would thoroughly recommend it ! Message back for specifics about the hotel if you wish if you want.
