Ok we all probably know that people venturing out to any of the Alp/Pyrennees/Dolomite resorts are in for quite a painful week with regard to paying for things !!
What's the situation with the Lev and Bulgaria ...
Being honest I can't remember what the exchange rate was this time last year against what it is today ..
Also .... how are prices sizing up over in the Bulgarian Ski resorts ... is it still fairly cheap?
Cheers ...

Firstly Happy New Year to everyone

Saw the other day 1.99 lev to the pound last year was about 2.40 year before £2.90 so well down. even if prices havent increased will make things much more exoensive. Tip would be to buy lift pass through tour op these havent gone up, the resort prices are the same but the exchange rate will make a huge diffence.
The lev is pegged to the euro and moves up and down with it at a rate of about 1.98 lev to the euro. Anyone outside the euro zone will feel the same pain in Bulgaria as those heading to to the Alps or Pyrenese etc due to fluxuating exchange rates.
JUST COME BACK TODAY, EXCHANGE RATE IN BOROVETS VARIED FROM 2.05 TO 1.95 NO COMMISION CHARGED, 1.85 AT AIRPORT, SO TAKE ENGLISH MONEY AND CHANGE IT THERE.
PRICES HAVE GONE UP SINCE LAST YEAR, DONT BUT A MARS OR SNICKERS ON TOP OF THE GONDOLA 6 LEV AT BEST £3, B
Hi Funski
We got back from Les Deux Alps yesterday and the prices were staggering. A jug of beer (2 pints) was 10 euros, bowl of soup 7 euros and a plate of (cold) oven chips was 5.50 euros. A small glass of coke cost 3.50 euros. And all this was down in the village - we daren't even ask the prices on the slopes! Even the supermarket prices were ridiculous. Most days we just took cereal bars that we'd brought from home.

The skiing was awesome - snow conditions were perfect. However, we did miss the cosy mountain lunches and the friendly, laid back feel that exists in Bulgaria.
Our next trip is to Pamps in February - bring it on!
