I'm a little bit confused about the currency. I've read in books that it's advisable to take plenty of sterling, but not to change it over there as i'll get charged high commission??? Should i not be taking bulgarian currency, not sterling???
Pippa If you can get a good rate i.e 2.70 Levs =£1 here then change before you go. Otherwise take sterling new notes no rips or writing on and not scottish, change at your hotel reception and you will heve no problem. Do not change at the currency boothes you may see in resort as these will rip you off. Any rate above the 2.70 is good.
dont take lev with you, youll get a rubbish rate, dont use street vendors or stalls they will rip you off, you can use debit/credit cards in the atm machines or use the hotels/banks like everywhere else.
Thank you so much, can't belive how helpful this forum is. i'm actually a forum virgin, thought they were a bit geeky but am finding it much fun, and a good way not to do any work
Fraser I got a great rate last season of 2.70 as apposed to 2.80 in resort!!! fo the sake of an easy life and a few pennies more to be had in resort. But if the rate is well below this now then I would wait until I got there.
