In Bansko it is 4 degrees warmer at the top of he mountain than at the bottom4 degrees on top and 0 at bottom
How does that work???
At least temps are dropping and some more snow due over next couple days

This has the scientists baffled too! It has more snow in Chepelare than Pamporovo so said a local

It may be the warm weather front from the south riding over the mass of existing cold air. Quite common.Richard.

The climate event is called tempereture inversion and is common in valley's surrounded by high mountains. The warm air blankets the cold below.re: Didn't think it was possible
Its called an inversion, cold air sinks to the bottom with the top exposed to warmer air.re: Didn't think it was possible
it could also just be that the thermometer on the top is exposed to the sun and that on the bottom is in the shade...re: Didn't think it was possible
I know the warm air rises thing but just thouht it was weird.Pointsmake sense though.

That warm front from the south is also bringing quite a lot of moisture so hope it will fall as snow overnight especially to pamporovo but this is where it is more likely to be rain unfortunately.Richard.
