Woody Allen said that he used to turn on the shower to warm up his New York apartment in winter. However, there was a draught coming from the window, and the warm front met the cold front and it started raining in the middle of his lounge

It's because down at the bottom there are more fridges being opened and closed causing the cold to escape out into the open air ....You don't get many fridges at the top of the mountain . hence the warmer air ..
