hi i was wondering which digital cameras people use on the slopes because i would like to buy one but theres so many to choose from, so if anyone has any recommendations i would like to hear them please
Loads of detail so you can crop and cut the picture to the exact detail that you want.
Problem was everytime I fell I thought 'Oh s**t' as I was worried about breaking it!!
The higher the number of pixels the better you can mess around with them afterwards, as an example I was taking wide angle photo's of the ski slopes and then when i have got home i have cut and cropped to the detail (ie person) on the slope I was trying to frame in the first place.

It has also taken some fine video clips which are easy to make into a short windows vid for everyone to now laugh at
The Canon a95 is a more compact 5 mega pixel version which gives outstanding results.
Depends what you want to use it for. I've got a canon A310 which cost £129.00. I only use it for downloading the photos to e-mail or post on the web and they are good quality. The camera is small so doesn't get in the way when skiing. If you want I'll e-mail some resent photos of Bansko so you can check out the quality for yourself.
I went for the Canon Digital Ixus - mainly because it's tiny. Fits into a pocket easily and robust enough to withstand the odd fall (speaking from experience!)
We have a Konica 5 mega pixels,as reccommended by independant canera shop, have had it 2yrs. currys do the replacement for £180- £200 now it is Minolta one of the only cameras with steel case.

I purchased a Canon Powershot S1 from ebuyer.com at £230, it is only a 3.2 mega pixel but has a 10x optical zoom, which is somewhere near an equivelant to a 35mm 30-380 zoom lens it is a cross between an SLR camera and a point and shoot as you can control the aperture speed etc, I purchased a 1Gig card at about £40 to go with it and had the capability of taking over 1100 photos, I actually took somewhere in the region of 200 plus plenty of little video shots. Fantastic camera but a little bulky. I am trying to go through the photos of Pamps and will be putting them on my site soon.
Take a look at the camera on ebuyer.com and it is somewhere in the region of £100 cheaper than anywhere else that I have seen it.
I took a HP photosmart 3.2 mp with 15 zoom. Excellent camera but eats battery power especially at -18 at the top station (boro 31st Jan). The thing failed just when I needed it most. The mechanics actually froze! Would not recommend it. Have youthought about a low cost digi cam with dv vid and still. Try Firebox or amazon. My son uses one which produces excellent results.
Hi Paul I had no probs with my Canon, kept it in my inside jacket pocket, temps down to at least -10 and did not have probs with batteries either, could not fault it. Great bit of kit. I used UNiROSS 2000mAh AA batteries.
