Dont tip!

I have wrote this as there has been many a thread moaning about it!

To some this may sound harsh but trust me it works.
When in a place like Borovets, pamps, bankso you should not tip.( If someone saves your life then you probably should)
The reasons behind this are as follows:

The reasons behind this are as follows:
-By tipping, you will actually disadvantage someone. Think of it from a bar owners point of view. If people are tipping then you dont have to pay your staff well, as the tourist will do it for you. In short v. little money ends up in the staffs hands. If you wernt to tip, then staff would dissappear thus making the bar owner increase his wages. This would increase peoples long term security.
- Beggars et al. If you dont give, they will go. Children should be in school and not collecting money for gangs. Think about it.
- Service. If you go on a holiday where a service tax is included in the price you will get far better service. For example, I went to Dominican Rep. and the holiday included a service tax, In resort you werent allowed to tip anyone. Because of this there were no barriers between you and the staff and they did not expect all the time. Everyone was relaxed and the atmosphere is completely different. Also this service tax ends up fairly in the right peoples pockets.

If you are still bemused, think along the lines of fair trade products.
If you were to buy some products from China for example, then you will actually be stopping Children from going to school.

This system doesnt work overnight and is for the long term but will help out us and them.

Anyway sorry for boring you! Razz

re: Dont tip!

I agree I hate when you get bad service so you don't tip then the staff look at you like they want to kill you.I would prefer if they added service charge on to bill its easier and if the waiters are bad they should be sacked. I have to say that I did tip well in Bulgaria as I always do I shouldn't have done though because in most of the restaurants in Bulgaria the service was the worst I have ever experienced. In one restaurant the guy said sorry about the wait but we are very busy.the ...

I have to say that I did tip well in Bulgaria as I always do I shouldn't have done though because in most of the restaurants in Bulgaria the service was the worst I have ever experienced. In one restaurant the guy said sorry about the wait but we are very busy.the restaurant was not even half full!! what would it have been like if it was full. In another restaurant there were 4 of us and two of my freinds had eaten there whole meal before my other freind and I got ours Mad.Another 'fast food' cafe near the Rila slopes me and 7 freinds all ordered a chicken burger and chips each the first came after about 20 minutes then each one after that at a 10 minute interval as I was the last to order i'd been there that long that I decided to just walk away without even seeing the food. It strikes me that there is no fully trained chefs in Borovets as any pro chef knows how to organise the time the food goes out so the customers on a table all get their food at the same time.Sorry to waffle on maybe I should have done my own thread on this subject.

re: Dont tip!

We tip for good service and the waitresses in the Rila certainly seemed to like it, ie their smile and eyes said it all.

Flip side, in Katies steak house the service was cr@p, the tip was 0.2 lev, choke on that!

I never give any money to beggars.

I can see you point of view but do not agree.

re: Dont tip!

If there is added service that will be the water's wage not the tip and 10% tip is normal evrywhere in the world. if you dont tip when you happy with the service mean you are just tight Wink
