EATING OUT IN BANSKO

Hello all!
My partner and I are going out for the 2nd time to Bansko on 8th Feb. Last time we went we stuck to the Friendly Bar and a couple of other random places.

We are a bit cautious as in one place closer to the centre of town we were slightly ripped off. The restaurant claimed to not have any bottles of wine cheaper than roughly £15. There were many other bottles on the wine list cheaper than £15 (Lev equivalent) however they claimed to be sold out. When we queried this we were ...

When we queried this we were told that this is the price we would pay in London so why should we not pay it in Bansko.

Hopefully this was a one off although we do want to try to avoid this again if possible. What other places are good for food and the alcohol is relatively cheap? Booze
We would like to try some more authentic restaurants if at all possible. Also, are there any other places quite similar to Friendly as well?

Thanks!

re: EATING OUT IN BANSKO

Hi Jen, sorry to hear about that and glad to see it has not put you off. I have been to Bansko twice and am going back for a 3rd time in March. Also been to Pamporovo 5 times and I have never as of yet had someone try to rip me off in a restaurant, but I know from this forum that sadly it does happen. Vote with your feet and walk out better still perhaps we should start naming and shaming such places on here?

It seems that in all the resorts we have some very greedy and stupid owners who in there quest to earn as much money as possible seem to think it is ok to try it on with the tourist's. What they fail to realise if they are putting off the future tourists who read stories of this happining!

To answer your question just have a good wonder around the old town I have had some great meals in Bansko for good prices but can never remember the name of them!!! If it happens again Walk!

Jen , I have been in Dedo Pene a couple of times and it was very good and not too badly priced. If you go down Pirin st towards the square , pass the church on your right, hang a left and its up there about 50 yards.

Enjoy
