Ok i confess, we used to try to guess the make and model of any car coming towards us, even down to its trim level and cc... 2000gxl granada etc.... This would then be confirmed by my dad.... Appreciate i was competing with my little sister six years my junior, Christ! she was good !!!
Was normally a pre-empt to a massive argument and fight in the back of the car, and again, Christ! she was good !!!
we used to have to find the letters of the alphabet from A - z at the beginning of cars number plates - bit more difficult now with the new style but it kept us quiet. !
For multiple animals, where no number was given, we used to allow two (Fox and hounds, one fox = 4 legs, hounds = 2 hounds x 4 legs = , and any pub with "arms" was caught (as well as "no legs = out")
Some pubs did give numbers like the Three Foxes, which is straightforward.
Kept hoping to pass the " Thousand Mounted Horsemen" pub.....................
Exactly sancho.
Theres an "Oxford and Cambridge" by Hammersmith Bridge, allow the whole population of the cities or the boat crew or (for those old enough!) makes of cars!
Heads always caused a bit of an arguement, were they still attaced to the body?
