What if it is fake. We bought two jackets, north face and columbia and both are brilliant. I priced the exact jacket in England for 5 times the price.
If they are fake then i cant tell, mind you i'm no fashion king.
I'd rather spend my money in Bulgaria than spend it in overpriced ski shops here.
one girl in a shop freely admitted that they get their fakes in from china but you get what you pay for and for the money its not bad quality stuff so just accept that there is a lot of fake gear and beat them down on the price
Depends on what you want. If you want a good jacket with a lifetime guarentee (North Face), then dont buy them. If you want a cheap jacket that may leak, fall apart and actually robs money from honest reputable companies then get a fake.
I know its tempting but I would never buy fake performance clothing. It may look good but wont do the job on the mountain.
A couple of hundred quid to maybe save your life one day is nothing.
gotta say, i'm pretty much on neil's side in all this. if you're buying tees or bits and bobs, fair enough - if a fake looks nice, then go and ahead and buy it. but don't get cross if its knackered after one wash. i think a lot of people seem to overlook the fact that when you're buying clothes specific to skiing/snowboarding, you're not just buying a jacket or some trousers, you're buying EQUIPMENT. i see a lot of fakes when i visit my family in hong kong. its fair to say that many of them ...

Not all the gear is fake, but alot is. Steer clear of anything Northface, as this is the most faked brand. If in dought, take your instructor with you if you can.
What a load of tosh, Neil, what honest reputable companies are you on about? All the ski shops i go into here are taking the p*** with their prices, they deserve a fake market taking money out of their pockets.
How many times has your jacket saved your life by the way?
I've a sneaky feeling you work for one of these reputable companies.
Snobbery thats all it is.
John sorry but you are talking rubbish. Yes mountain gear/ski gear is expensive but you get what you pay for. If you want to but a Jacket that looks ok but cost £30 then dont be suprised if it does not keep you warm and falls apart.
Also when you purchase imataion gear you are supporting the crimanals around the world be it here or in Bulagria.
sorry John, I also know for a fact you are speaking total rubbish, Fake clothing can be a real problem, not just with organised crime as Daniel has quite rightly pointed out but for your own safety too.
the person who has the biggest problem with fake goods is the the person whos daft enough to think that a £30 north face coat is anything but a fake and a load of rubbish, if you want north face quality you need to pay north face money and only then can you rely on it being warm and dry in ...

The only issue i have with fake produce, not that it stops me. Get quite alot of fake stuff, generally not clothing though. All these things be it fake clothing, dvd copies, e.t.c. There all linked to huge international criminals, who use the profit from this to traffick drugs, people, guns. People make their own decisions, it's not down to me or anyone else to tell you what you can and cant buy.
