We are first time skiers apart from the hubby and going to Borovets the end of Jan, just wondered if anyone has got any top ten tips they could pass on for our family trip. Great places to eat skiing tips all grateful recieved.
1. Don't be scared to fall over - you will anyway so just go with it.
2. Relax.
3. Don't stare at the tips of your skis.
4. Always keep your weight DOWN the mountain on the lower ski.
5. Button Lifts (drag lifts) - stay upright and rigid, never think it's a seat, just let it pull you up the slope.
6. Plant your pole on turns, the downhill pole then ski around it.
7. Laugh and never cry.
8. Tip your instructor well if you think they deserve it.

My Top Ten Skiing Tips.

9. Always clean the soles of your ski boots of snow before you attach the ski.
10. Get very drunk in the evening
Traditionally Bulgarians eat their food luke warm and this is often reflected by the Hotels. Breakfast is usually ok and a (nearly) english breakfast is available as well as the continental style in several hotels. Evening meals - if you have paid for half board then give it a try, otherwise there are loads of restaurants bars etc in the resort.
Lunch time - if you are with ski school then your instructor will take you to a watering hole and if half way through the week you liked an earlier ...

have your nails painted by the lady in the Rila hotel, you need to book if you only get them painted its 15 Lev, 30 lev for the full manicure and they are divine... buy a chocolate and banana pancake from the little hut on the road to the Gondola at least once... Titanic was nice to eat in, we also went in Franko's but to be honest was not that impressed especially when the waiter told us the kitchen staff were new and in his words "S**T" he had already taken our money ...
