Been going to Borovets since 1988/89 (Christmas and New Year). Over the years have travelled with all ages from 1-70+. Everyone has enjoyed going and watching things change and develop.
Kids of all ages love sledging outside the Rila early evening and usually build snowmen etc.

We love the Titanic - great food (English breakfast with Heinz baked beans!) and cocktails. Franco's and Harry Potters serve great pizza and show football on big screens. We love skidooing - last year was around £15 ( half price for kids) ask your ski instructor to arrange as it can cost more if you arrange.
Food in hotels is usually served warm, breakfast usually best. Rila cooks pancakes/omlettes if requested. Rila also has activities for kids eg pottery painting, swimming. Bowling at Samokov plus swimming.
We did trips years ago - too busy skiing now.
Bulgarians are quite reserved at first, but love kids. We now have made friends and wouldn't go anywhere else. The journey is usually the worst part.
We had our first trip to Borovets last month. It is absolutely stunning. I was a bit worried after having read some comments on here but once I got there it was just great. Bulgarians are great, solid people and a pleasure to be around.
Useful tips: change your money in resort -they offer a far better rate than anywhere in the UK. Don't expect a good pint of Guiness, just smile and accept that they don't understand Guiness drinkers. Better still, drink the vodka instead.

Fall over in a snow bank (unless it is yellow): you get fewer bruises and it's a lot more interesting.
Drink hot wine and hot chocolate. (Not at the same time, it's a waste of both.)
