First Timers

My husband and I and my 6yr old daughter are going to Boverets in the New Year. My husband has skied before but my daughter and I are first timers. My daughter is not keen on being on her own without one of there. Would we be able to do a lesson together? Any advise welcome. Thanks

Lisa,
Brought my wife and two kids sking last year to Pamporovo ,was there first time sking .i stayed with kids for a few minutes (maybe half hour) for the first two days after that they wanted to left alone ,its a small resort and you can easy check in on kids through out the day ,if you are a beginner you wont be to fare a way at any time and may even be near your daughter all day every day except when she starts to really ski and you are still learing, you will have a great time .

re: First Timers

we were in boro with us boarding and kids ski-ing
we were able to catch up with kids often and they settled in and made friends
the first time i took them i left then but missed the first part of my boarding so i cold stay away but watch and all was fine
listen to your daughter though and once she has the basics there is no reason why you and her cannot ski the gentle slopes together or go with your husband
we took my son out of class for abit as he wasnt happy one day he came with us ...

You may have difficulty leaving your daughter on her own as the minimum age for ski school is 7 years. I skiied in the same group as my 6 & 8 year olds last time we went but they had skiied before.

Please be careful about being economical with the truth when it comes to ages as you may invalidate your insurance.

If you want to know more then please ask.

re: First Timers

This is an extract from the Balkan Holidays brochure regarding ages for children.

You will have to see your rep in resort to sort this out for your 6 year old.

Have fun anyway and don't lie about their age for insurance purposes.

Ski-hire: 5-11, Ski School: 8-11, Lift Pass: 5-11. Ski packs and ski school for younger children can sometimes be arranged

Hi,
You will have a great time in Boro. However I would not recommend you allow your little girl to go to the Rila Ski kindergarten. It is terrible. My nephew was there last year aged 6. My sister-in-law wanted him to join her in her beginners ski class (and he would of been fine). The instructor would of let her take him with her but there were a few moans from some of the other learners in the ski group, mainly a women who had a 9 year old . So she had no choice but to keep him in the kindergarten for the mornings. Then took him out in the afternoon. If you can I would try and have lessons together even if it means booking them privately and perhaps hubby teaching abit as well. Don't let my comment worry you Borovets is a really great value for money place but with children if they are not happy nor are you. Who did you book with?

re: First Timers

We are going with Airtours and staying at the Rila. They have told me that my daughter would need to go to ski kindergartan. My daughter is not the best at being left so we thought i would have lessons and my husband (who can ski) would accompany my daughter. What do you think?
